The biggest favela in Brazil
Rocinha is the biggest favela in Brazil, and being one of about 600 favelas in Rio de Janeiro, it’s also one of the most developed and safest favelas in Rio at the same time.
Rocinha is located in the South Zone of Rio de Janeiro, between the districts São Conrado and Gávea. It’s been built on a steep hillside overlooking the beautiful city of Rio de Janeiro, just half a mile away from the beach.
